I'm currently attending college classes at Central Carolina Community College (CCCC), and already I have had to do a project in one of my classes.
Huskins - Web Graphics
While still in high school, I was able to take some college classes through CCCC that gave me both high school and college credits through a program called "huskins." At the high school, the classes took place over the course of each semester. I took part in the Web Graphics program, which was two semesters at the high school, but ended up being four different college classes.
Web 110 - Internet/Web Fundamentals: This course introduces World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standard markup language and services of the Internet. Topics include creating web pages, search engines, FTP, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to deploy a hand-coded website created with mark-up language, and effectively use and understand the function of search engines.
Web 140 - Web Development Tools: This course provides an introduction to web development software suites. Topics include the creation of web sites and applets using web development software. Upon completion, students should be able to create entire web sites and supporting applets.
DME 115 - Graphic Design Tools: This course provides students with an introduction to creative expression and art/design techniques in a digital environment. Emphasis is placed on designing, creating, editing, and integrating visual components consisting of bit-mapped and vector-based images, drawings, banners, text, simple animations, and multiple layers. Upon completion, students should be able to design and produce a range of visual products using digital processing techniques.
There was a third project in this course that made us use Premiere Elements in order to make a music video. We were given the choice of what song we wanted to use in our music video and what clips we were going to use to make that music video. My youngest sister is in JROTC, and my mother often films different events that they go to and take part in. I chose to take those clips and make a music video from the song "Mighty Wings" by Cheap Trick, which is featured on the movie "Top Gun" with Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis.
Web 210 - Web Design: This course introduces intermediate to advanced web design techniques. Topics include customer expectations, advanced markup language, multimedia technologies, usability and accessibility practices, and techniques for the evaluation of web design. Upon completion, students should be able to employ advanced design techniques to create high impact and highly functional web sites.
There are a lot of things I do on my spare time (Spare time? What is this spare time you speak of?) The Pack tends to meet up and go do things together as a group a lot, but whenever we aren't doing things together, there are several activities I participate in alone. I am always writing - not so much lately as I have been trying to finish this site, but there it is. Short stories, novels, poems, skits... You name it, I have probably done it - to a certain extent. I also create home videos using a camera that shouldn't be used for such a purpose.
Novels: I am currently working on a single novel although I have several completed ones that just need to be torn to shreds and re-written completely. Below are some brief descriptions of my works. I am always in need of people to read, review, and edit, so don't hesitate to ask about one that sounds interesting.
Urikans: Galaxy Reynolds stopped seeing future events after the death of her best friend, but when Rollay moves to town, they start up again. What does he want with her and why have the dreams returned?
Animal Speaker: Sandra Harris has several problems - an abusive boyfriend who cheats on her, a mother who doesn't even seem to realize she exists, and the ability to understand animals. She doesn't need the extra stress of TJ Mage in her life, but she has no choice.
Ruby Dragon: After a brutal attack by two seniors, Garwen Fleede is left unable to walk. Soon after, he and his older brother Gomun are thrown into another world called Geniserc through a portal where they find themselves in the middle of a war between two factions - the Skyriders and the Hrens.
Deep Majic: After Kya Eyks loses her best friend and boyfriend as well as her brother, she thinks her life has ended, until the a letter from her dead brother begins to lead her on a track into her future with dragons and majic and vampyres and Atlancians.
Puck: "First of all, I am not human (although I wish I was). I am a Shifter..." Puck Dupree found out she was a Shifter when she accidentally became a fox. Now, a year and half later, she's learning to be human again - a feat that is hard to pull off with just being a teenager alone, but the Council wants her to be one of theirs and choose a Mage, a child she babysits is showing signs of magic way to early in life, and the guy at school that scares her to death is hitting on her.
Short Stories: I'm always working on short stories. Inspiration for such stories come from many places such as real-life events (like my latest few short stories), songs, movies, pictures, and requirements set upon me by peers (these are some of my funnier ones). I write monster stories most of the time - vampires, werewolves, magic, demons, and the devil have all taken part in my writing - but every once in a while I'll get a random story idea that I have to write down, and those are usually based off real-life situations, and don't include fantasy in their fiction.
I made a new resolution. The challenge? Write a new short story every week of this year, 2010. There are 52 Sundays in 2010, and the way I have set up my challenge is that I must have one new short story by 11:59 PM on Sunday of every week in 2010. Anyone have any ideas for a short story, let me know!
