8 May 10 - A Mixture of Everything
Ugh! Family problems galore! Hopefully everything will work out.
I am still doing my story-a-week, although I must admit that with everything going on lately, I have fallen a little behind. Last week's story rolled into this week and I am currently working on two short stories at a time this week. It's tough coming up with new short story ideas every week. Luckily, dreams/nightmares have been keeping me straight.
Unfortunately, all the stuff going on around me - family, work, and school - also prevented me from finishing the short story for First Line in time. Actually, that's one of the two short stories I am working on this week. I started it too late, but I am going to finish it even though I won't be able to get it published. Actually, I was surprised that I was able to write anything at all. The story's first line is "Paul and Miriam Kaufman met the old-fashioned way" and until a week ago, I didn't have a CLUE what to write. Not good, but I am working on finishing it now, and it will go into the folder with all the other weekly short stories.
OK, I am a techno-freak and a hypocrite, and I don't mean the music. I am a firm believer that there shouldn't be a computer or a TV in someone's bedroom. It's just something I don't believe in... I now have both. As of today I have a working computer in my room. Still trying to figure out why the internet's not working, but in running order otherwise. I've actually had the TV for a couple of weeks now. My family got a new one in the living room, and the old one made it's home in my room for some odd reason.
Now, on that note, I must say this. The TV has only been on a couple of times - only so many as to count on one hand in fact. I don't have cable in my room, and just have a DVD player for movies, which explains that one. As for the computer... It would have been nice to have months ago when I had papers to write and there was always someone on the main computer when i got home. I am currently using my new computer for stories and updating the site. It will see more use than the TV, but still not so much while I am working.
23 Apr 10 - Updates!
Finished adjusting some things. Sometimes, this site can be a major pain in the a**!
Oh well, in other news...
I received my second notice from The First Line, this time about my short story "Working for Him." Another rejection. But... I have an idea for the next sentence starter and am going to try again. You never know. Third time's a charm?
In other, other news... My little Geo Tracker is officially D-E-D dead. I am currently looking for a new vehicle, hopefully an SUV. I have test driven a Honda Element and they are butt-ugly, but absolutely FUN!!! to drive. I wish I could afford one.
I am graduating in three weeks exactly as of yesterday. WoOt! wOoT!
19 Mar 10 - Re-Vamp
Major re-vamp going on with the site. Please be patient as I work stuff out. Thanks! :)
25 Nov 09 - The First Line Submissions
I recently received an e-mail that told me my submission for The First Line had been rejected. I wrote a short story called, "Job Offer" using the line: "Waiting for change always seems to take longer than you would expect." It doesn't make me sad surprisingly. I have gotten used to rejection letters, and am not surprised to see them anymore. It just means it's another rejection letter I can tack to my wall (an inside joke between me and Wolf).
The good thing is that I'm not giving up. I just finished submitting another story to them, this one called "Working for Him" using the line: "Working for God is never easy." It was an interesting idea to work with. I don't like my finished story, but maybe they will. It's worth a shot either way.
6 Aug 09 - Even More Site Updates
I updated the Pack page so there are some links to either Myspace or Facebook pages to some of the people I've known over the past years. I also updated the Projects page so that "CCCC" says "College" instead and updated the College page itself.
Another update not related to this site, is the fact that I started a blog a few months ago. I thought I had added a link to it here, but it seems I haven't.
So check out my blog at Adventures of the Skye-Fox!
29 June 09 - More Site Updates
Another batch of updates done and up. Check them out! It's the Pack page of course because that's where most of the updates will be from now on unless I somehow miraculously get the stuff I need to get done in order to update the CCCC page.
9 Jun 09 - Site Updates
The Pack page is undergoing a MAJOR re-vamp!!! Please be patient until I can get all the kinks worked out and the whole thing set up and complete. Anyone who wants to yell at me about it can do so through e-mail... unless they have my phone number! Then they can call and cuss me out about it.
"Why are you changing it?!? You're always changing it?!?"
Well, dear-hearts, the truth is, I'm not happy with it... And until I'm happy with it, it's going to keep changing! Deal with it!
14 May 09 - Summer!!!
Finals are over! Summer classes are about to begin! And this site needs an update already! AHHHH!!! Gotta love it!
Most of the updates have been done now, and the site looks better already!!! LOVE IT!!!
28 Mar 09 - Site Completion
Finally, the long-awaited arrival of skye-fox.com has come! Take a look around. Enjoy what you see!
16 Mar 09 - The Florida Trip
The four main members of the Pack just made another trip this weekend - this time to Florida. An-Tony, Kat, Matt and I helped a friend and co-worker (for Kat and An-Tony at least) move back to Florida. He'd been living there until he moved with his family to North Carolina, and some conditions at work here in North Carolina made him wish to move back. So he did what any other fellow Pack member would do - made a rash and sudden decision and followed through on it.
The trip itself was miserable. It was a LOOOOONG drive from Sanford, North Carolina to Tampa, Florida, but the weather was nice as soon as we got out of North Carolina. The other thing that made it miserable was the fact that John and Matt clanked heads a little too often for anyone's taste. In the end it all turned out all right, but if it hadn't, a fight would have broken out.
The trip back was also miserable but not nearly as bad as it could have been. We spent more than twelve hours in the same vehicle with each other and by the end of the trip we were all just ready to get away from each other for a while, but that's OK because we're still family.
30 Jan 09 - The Beach Trip
The beach trip was a success! Kat and An-Tony were able to get away from their relationship problems for a while and just relax and have fun. It rained most of Saturday and then was frigid cold Sunday, but all-in-all it was great. We stayed indoors and watched movies or played video games the entire time, so it was all good.
Also, we females found out that the males CAN actually cook. They made Saturday night's dinner.
20 Jan 09 - Plans
Recently, a few members of the Pack have been having relationship problems – An-Tony with Yesenia, Kat with Shane, Matt with an ex none of the Pack members have ever met, and me with Justin (and his after-me ex-girlfriends and fiancées). What does any member of a well-established pack do when there’s a problem? They ban together and escape the realities of the world by going on a beach trip scheduled for the 23-25 of January!
On top of everything else, it’s SNOWING! North Carolina hardly ever gets snow. Lots of ice, but hardly ever snow. The last time it really snowed was in 2004 and before that in 2000, and always in January, after Christmas is gone and past. Enjoy the SNOW North Carolinians!
